Training Classes
What are dog training classes?
Dog training classes or dog training clubs are establishments usually run by teams of dedicated people who should be knowledgeable in dog training methods. Each dog is an individual and needs to be trained as such. There should be no more than 8 dogs in a class to one instructor otherwise you may not receive the attention that is required. When viewing a club for the first time, it is recommended that you go without your dog and watch the classes. Do the dogs seem relaxed in the environment? Do the instructors seem knowledgeable and approachable? Would your dog be happy in the classes?
Recommended Training Classes
The following clubs have been visited by Foal Farm and are perceived as reward based method classes. However, should you have any comments on any of the clubs listed below, we would be grateful to receive them. If we receive a good response, we may even set up a 'comments box'!

| Club History: | The aim of the club is to promote a better understanding amongst dog owners to the needs of their dog, increase their responsibility towards other dog owners and members of the public and to help them to conform to local by-laws concerning dogs and ownership. The club is a non-profit making concern and instructors give their time voluntarily and all proceeds, less expenses, will be donated to an Animal Rescue shelter or other canine causes. The club also assists with those seeking advice with their dog and gives advice on training, behaviour, feeding and general care. One to One visit can be arranged. We run the Kennel Clubs Good Citizen Dog Scheme (hope to start at Foal Farm soon) Bronze, Silver and Gold as part of our classes. |

WAGGING TAILS Dog Training
| Club History: | I am an APDT trainer. One of my assistants is in the process of applying to be an APDT member too. I and one of my assistants are in our first year studying for a degree in
Canine Behaviour and Training. We are also in the process of applying for KC status
so we can offer the KC Good Citizen Awards later this year.
We use positive training methods only. I have three rescue dogs, a Pyrenean Mountain Dog and two Saluki Lurchers, so have a special interest in training rescue dogs. One of my class assistants also has a rescue GSD. Between us, we have many different breeds (Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Lurchers, German Sheperds, Boxer, American Bulldog) so we are used to adapting our training methods to each individual breed/dog and are able to take the different breed traits into consideration. |
