Bringing a Dog to Foal Farm for Re-homing
We understand that circumstances arise which mean you may no longer be able to care for your dog.
Please consider carefully whether you wish to part with your dog. If the reason is a change in the dog's behaviour then please visit or contact your vet as there may be an underlying health problem that is affecting the dog. If it is not a health problem your vet may refer you to a behaviourist. Remember you are not alone and lots of people have problems with their dogs, many of which are resolvable with the right advice.
If you have a temporary problem at home you may wish to consider boarding your dog at a reputable boarding kennels. Please also consult all family members about the decision to re-home the dog as once placed in a new home you will be unable to retrieve the dog.
After considering all options if you would like Foal Farm to help you re-home your dog please follow the guidelines below:
1 Let us know
Please email us on dogs@foalfarm.org.uk or call us and let us know that you would like to bring the dog to us for re-homing. Please provide as much information about the dog as possible such as age, breed, temperament and family history, for example whether they have lived with other animals or children. Most importantly we need to know the reason you are re-homing the dog. Please be honest with us, as the more information we have the easier it will be to match the dog to a new home.
2 Make an appointment to bring the dog to Foal Farm
Unfortunately we have a limited capacity and our kennels are often full so we may need to place you on the waiting list. If we are unable to take your dog we will gladly advise you of alternative solutions.
3 Bring in the dog
Once we have contacted you to say we can take your dog, please bring your dog in along with any vaccination certificates, medical history and special dietary requirements. We will temperament assess your dog on arrival and give the dog a quick health check. We will then spend a few days assessing the dog further before placing the dog up for re-homing. There is no fee for bringing a dog to Foal Farm, but a donation is always greatly appreciated to cover the costs of care and re-homing, plus vaccinations, micro-chipping and neutering if required. Please be generous.
We accept cash, cheques or credit cards or you can click on the button below to donate online.
