FOAL relies on helpers, dog walkers and many other volunteers.
Could you spare some time?

Volunteers are always very welcome at Foal, and there are many areas in
which you can help!

GENERAL CLEANING AND MUCKING OUT:
We have over 300 animals at the Farm, and they all have to be cleaned out,
fed, watered and checked, in the morning before the visiting public arrive
at 1.30pm.
Most volunteers arrive between 8.30am and 9am, so they can be included on
one of seven animal 'rounds'.
If you want to stay all day, you will need to bring a packed lunch, though
we do provide squash, tea and coffee. Also, please remember to wear sensible
clothing that you do not mind getting muddied!

In the afternoon, as well as dealing with the animals and the public, it's a
time to tidy up the farm, and catch up with all kinds of outstanding tasks.
There is always a list of 'things that need doing', and even keeping on top
of washing dog and cat blankets, drying and putting them away, can turn out
to be a full time occupation!

Volunteers also can come in, after 1.30pm, to walk the dogs and to groom
dogs, cats, horses etc.
Anyone wanting to be a Foal Dog Walker, needs to be 18yrs and over, and to
have had some experience walking dogs. You will need to ring the Foal office
to book an appointment to fill in an assessment form, and speak with one of
the kennel team.

TEA ROOM AND SHOP AREA:

Our tea room and shops are worked entirely by some of our Committee Members
and volunteers, so any help is very welcome.
We have a Pet/Gift Shop, a Second Hand Books and Jumble store, and a Bric a
Brac shop that need help, not to mention sorting out jumble that is very
kindly left by members of the public, and can pile up into a mountain if not
dealt with as it comes.
The Tea Room is opened at weekends and Bank Holidays, only because we do not
have enough volunteers to run it, and it would be good to have all of our
shops open every day, especially during school holidays, when we have lots
of visitors.

MAINTENANCE:

We have a full time maintenance man, who has a list of things to do, as long
as his arm! With 27 acres to deal with, fences always need mending and there
are fresh repairs to do every day, not to mention new projects popping up to
make life more comfortable for the animals in our care.

GARDENING:

Any gardeners out there will know how fast weeds take over the garden, and
we are always having to pull up nettles round the edges of paths and
paddocks, and a multitude of weeds in our many flower beds, that threaten to
choke the flowers and shrubs! Gardening is a year round task at Foal, and
any help you can give, we will be very grateful for.

IF YOU CAN HELP WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE TASKS, PLEASE TELEPHONE 01959 572386
AND ASK FOR JACKIE SANDS, OR YOU CAN EMAIL TO
manager@foalfarm.org.uk.

VOLUNTEERS CAN BE FROM 14YEARS, TO AS OLD AS YOU LIKE! UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE
NOT ABLE TO GET INSURANCE COVER FOR YOUNGSTERS UNDER 14YEARS.

LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT FOAL!
