Homing a Cat

list_catsThere are many beautiful cats at Foal Farm looking for a good home. We have young, middle aged and elderly adult cats, as well as kittens and cats with special needs.

If you would like to home a cat, please follow these steps:

1) Choose a cat

Click on the link opposite to see the cats that are currently available. Alternatively, please come and see the cats at the Farm during our opening hours of 1:30 to 4:30pm, everyday except Tuesdays, and speak with our Office Staff.

2) Introduction

If you are looking to home a cat, please complete either of the relevant application forms on the bottom of this page, and return to us by emailing cats@foalfarm.org.uk. We will then contact you to make an appointment for an introduction to the cat, or discuss your application and our cats with you further.

3) Home Visit

If your introduction is successful, the office staff will give you a booking form and the telephone numbers of home checkers in your area. You will need to contact them directly and arrange an appointment for them to visit you in your home. If the visit is successful, they will complete and sign the booking form.

4) Collect your cat

You can now make an appointment to collect your cat by emailing cats@foalfarm.org.uk, or call the Cat Team.

Please bring your signed booking form with you.

You will also need to pay the fee and any additional charges. All cats that leave Foal Farm have been neutered, treated for fleas and worms, groomed and micro-chipped. The fees typically vary from £50 and £115, and the fees may be reduced for older or special needs cats. Please enquire about this at your introduction meeting. We accept cash, cheques and credit cards.

Please don’t forget to bring a secure cat carrier to take your cat home in. Your chosen cat will be checked over in front of you and you will be given a pack that includes the vaccination certificate, health record plus advice on feeding and anything else of note. You will be able to purchase food and accessories for your new cat in our pet shop at the Farm.

5) Enjoy your cat

Having a cat should be a rewarding and joyful experience. However,  cats are sensitive and territorial animals and it may take them time to get used to you and their new surroundings. If, however, you have any problems, please call or email The Cat Team at Foal Farm.
