Foal Farm are looking for some very special people to join our dedicated hard working team here. You must share our charitable aims and ethos and be prepared to go that extra bit further! Experience is preferred but we will also train the right people.



Full Time or Part Time – depending on the applicant

Based at Foal Farm

3 – 5 days per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transaction processing and maintenance of the accounts using Sage
  • Maintenance of purchase and sales ledgers
  • Processing supplier invoices and arranging payments on a weekly basis
  • Responsible for processing daily takings and donations received
  • Banking of all cash & cheques
  • Preparation of control account reconciliations including monthly bank and cash reconciliations
  • Submission of gift aid claims by the charity
  • Dealing with routine legacy matters
  • Preparing and submitting the quarterly VAT returns
  • Report on the Charity’s investment portfolio in liaison with the Treasurer
  • Act as nominated Data Protection Officer for the charity
  • Production of monthly management accounts
  • Assisting Commercial & Fundraising Manager with preparation of annual budgets
  • Management of the annual audit process
  • Preparation of the year end audit schedules and liaison with the auditors at year end

Person Specification:

  • Qualified accountant (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience in charity sector would be an advantage
  • Knowledgeable of Sage Accounting
  • Computer literacy essential
  • Self-sufficient, able to undertake the role with minimal supervision
  • Previous experience of Management Accounts, payroll, handling HMRC or Gift Aid would all be an advantage
  • An interest in animal welfare and the objectives of Foal Farm

Full time position – based at Foal Farm

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the welfare of the animals at Foal Farm

Reporting directly to the General Manager

To lead and motivate four animal teams, including Dog Team, Cat Team, Large Animal Team and Small Animal Team.


Person Specification:

Managerial experience in a similar role

Knowledge and experience of animal welfare and rehoming

Credible role model who leads by example

Self-motivated/ability to manage own workload efficiently

Strong interpersonal skills

Compassion for animals and their needs

An understanding and empathy with the views and objectives of Foal Farm

General Job Description:

A full time maintenance technician and supervisor position has become available at Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre in Biggin Hill. Foal Farm is a charity that rescues rehabilitates and re-homes animals of all varieties, and we are now recruiting to fill this vacancy.

You will be required to inspect and maintain all aspects of the charities site and perform any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required. To do well in this role you should have previous experience in maintenance, and be able to plan and priorities requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment

Performing preventative maintenance

Handling basic repairs and maintenance

Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary

Diagnosing all repair issues and correcting them

Organising work schedules for members of the maintenance team

Planning site needs in terms of priority


Person Specification:

Proven maintenance experience.

Diploma or maintenance related qualification desirable

Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.

Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.

Experience performing routine maintenance.

Strong organisational and follow up skills.

Eye for detail.

Professional presentation and attitude.

Ability to maintain focus while working individually.

Strong time management and planning skills.

We are looking for a trustee/treasurer with finance experience to work with the board to monitor the charity’s financial affairs and viability.


Person Specification

To be able to attend monthly trustee meetings (Saturdays) in addition to AGM

Knowledge of accounting

Knowledge of VAT and corporation tax

Knowledge of gift aid rules, record keeping and claiming.

Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Enthusiasm and commitment to supporting the charities mission, aims and values.

Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship

Strategic vision and good independent judgement



To ensure the organisation complies with charity law and accounting standards

To ensure the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects

To ensure financial reports are provided to Trustees in a timely and easy to understand manner

To keep the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities

To support staff to prepare the budget to present to the Board

To ensure the proper investment of the charity’s funds

To safeguard the good name and values of the organisation

To ensure the financial stability of the organisation

To contribute actively to the board of trustees role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
